Just wrapped up another SOBEWFF in beautiful South Beach, and Miami did not disappoint! The weather was perfect, the food was divine (shout out to Joe’s Stone Crab!), and Jade and Todd got to join me! I had two main events: a dinner at Casa Tua and an Italian Dim Sum brunch at Cecconi's. It was a great opportunity to test out and showcase some dishes I plan to feature at the restaurant! Both events were so much fun and I was really happy with the feedback. Jade loved helping plate and serve at Casa Tua. Just like her mom, she loves to feed people! The Dim Sum brunch was a little like sailing unchartered ground for me, but it was really fun and interactive - exactly what I had hoped for - with little carts full of snack sized portions of some of my faves like pizza di spaghetti, chicken meatballs, smashed potatoes, etc. I'm fine tuning this and will be offering it on weekends at the restaurant. I think Vegas is going to love it...I know I do!
One of my favorite moments of the weekend was at Jungle Island, the number one interactive zoo in the world. I got to hold so many little babies, each one as cute as the next. I was so bummed that Jade had to take an early flight back with her dad because she had school the next day, so she had to miss all the “fluffies”… but we took LOTS of pictures…
What’s more exciting than holding a baby tiger? The Digital Weekly is now online!
At www.giadaweekly.com, you can now subscribe to the magazine and access issues on any desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. And if you already subscribed through the iPad and iPhone app, you can sync your Giada subscription on giadaweekly.com and access your issues on any device you own, at no extra cost! So to get you started, I’ve completely unlocked the two most recent issues and a dozen recipes you'll only find in the weekly, Giada!
The restaurant menu is almost set and the space is really, finally, coming along. I’m going to post some pics of the space in action soon, as well as a countdown clock on my website!! Thinking of a contest for facebook and twitter for the restaurant opening…Any suggestions? What would be fun?
We are wrapping up the next season of FNS next month and can’t wait to find out the winner! You know, it’s funny, but I get asked the same question a lot- Do Bobby, Alton, and I know the winner from the beginning? The truth is, we always have a strong hunch - and we’re always wrong!! So, it’s exciting to participate in the process, watch these chefs grow in front of the cameras and see which dark horse pulls ahead to win the roses!
Hope you guys have a fun Oscar weekend! Here’s a few predictions from me and Jade for your pool! Best Actor- Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Actress- Cate Blanchett, Best Screenplay- Her. Best Feature- 12 Years a Slave, Best dressed (should be an award!!)- I’m going for Leo and Sandra. Jade’s prediction for best animation- “Frozen” and her prediction for best dressed- Amy Adams! No matter who takes home the trophies, a little thank you to all the nominees from me for keeping me so greatly entertained this year!!
