NYC? Two scoops, please!
There's no better way to break in the Fall than a girl's trip to NYC! It was definitely a packed weekend with all the NYWFF events, but left me feeling revived, nonetheless. NYC just seems to have that effect on me!
I started the festivities by getting my nails painted grey and pink for Breast Cancer Awareness by Pattie Yankee, then decided to fully commit to the pink look and dye the tips of my hair as well! Not a permanent look, but fun! And Jade loved it, of course!
We stayed in Soho, which is a different neighborhood than I normally stay in, and it was so fun to find new favorite spots. I was so thrilled to find that Jack's, my summer coffee shop in the Hamptons, opened up a shop in the village! So, not only did I get a taste of summer all over again, I was also well fueled all weekend- and I needed it!!
Another new "downtown fave" I found is Pizzetteria Brunetti, owned by my good friends Mary and Michael Brunetti and their son Jason. They already have a killer pizzeria that I love in Westhampton Beach, and they invited my friends and me to a fabulous lunch to sample all their goods (and I mean GOOOODS) at their new location that just opened on Hudson. Mary's Meatball pizza was my fave, I have to say, but the table fave was the spicy Spezie pizza. Delish!! Their little outdoor patio is such perfect NY ambiance. We were all sitting outside, chatting and enjoying an unbelievably gorgeous "Salumi E Formaggi" platter, when all of a sudden it started raining! I looked up and there were no clouds. The upstairs neighbor was watering her garden... and us, as well! We laughed so hard-after yelling, "Hey! We're down here!" It definitely was a lunch I won't soon forget, and if you're in NYC, make sure to visit... and bring an umbrella! I kid, I kid... but tell the boys I sent ya!
Last weekend also happened to be Food Network's 20th anniversary, and they threw a HUGE bash on the pier. I went with a retro look that was super fun.
There were crazy art installations that made it feel more like we were partying it up in a cool museum rather than a pier on the Hudson river. It was so much fun and we danced until late into the night- which my legs are still thanking me for! I even DJ'd a little... until the DJ realized it!
Even though the entire weekend was packed with fun, my favorite event was my NYWFF dinner at Haven's Kitchen. Me and my team (Lish and Ashley) cooked an 80 person, 6 course dinner and it was truly special. At the end of the day, there's not much I would rather do than cook for a hungry table, so it was perfect.
I rounded the trip off with a demo and book signing at the Grand Tasting event at NYWFF. It got me so excited about the book tour just around the corner and my next adventure! "Feel Good Food" is almost here!! Have you ordered your copy yet? I might as well leave my bags packed because I can't wait to get back on the road and meet you guys!
